BA’s new pop-up restaurant

Flight BA2012, the airline's first pop-up restaurant, opens its doors on London's Shoreditch High Street today, with tickets being sold only through the company's Facebook page. The project, which seeks to recreate the experience of actually being on board one of BA's planes, offers an 'Olympics-inspired menu' created by Michelin-star chef Simon Hulstone, overseen by Heston Blumenthal. At £50-per-head, this is an in-flight meal with a difference; three courses 'inspired by BA menus dating back to 1948' which will also be offered on first-class BA flights during the Olympic months. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the work of two specially commissioned artists as part of the company's Great Britons programme. This includes a short film by Prasanna Purwanarajah (mentored specifically for the programme by Richard E Grant), and artwork by Pascal Anson (who was mentored by Tracey Emin).
