Career path:

Name:
Priti Savla
Employer:
3
Position:
Sales Associate

Q: What made you choose to join your current employer?

A:

I worked for 3 in India after I graduated and continued with further studies. Then when I moved to the UK, I really wanted to work for 3 again.

Q: What is the basic function/purpose of your current role?

A:

As a Sales Associate the main function of my job is to sell, sell and then sell some more, whilst displaying 3's behaviours - being open and honest, taking responsibility and keeping my word.

Q: How relevant were your qualifications to you getting the job?

A:

A general level of education is a must as being a Sales Associate at 3 requires strong and effective communication skills at all times.

Q: Describe some of the key tasks involved in performing your current role and the frequency with which you have to perform them.

A:

Key tasks all Sales Associates perform are offering world-class customer service and helping all customers to get what they want and we do that at all times. Plus, I have also been given the extra responsibility of Sales Floor Manager, so I'm also in charge of organising the shop floor each morning and making sure my store is ready for trading.

Q: What’s the first thing you do when you arrive at work each day?

A:

Breathe in the 3ness and get ready.

Q: How big is the team in which you work?

A:

There are 15 of us.

Q: Describe how your job interacts with the rest of your team.

A:

As the regular Sales Floor Manager, I feel that it's important to lead by example and share our experiences, regularly passing on tips and best practice to colleagues so that we can all improve our sales performance and work better together as a team.

Q: How would you describe the working culture of your current employer?

A:

The store that I'm employed in has a very multi-cultural base which is very friendly and has a family-like atmosphere. We believe in working for the team and the results that it garners. This is shown by the fact that four members of the team were in the Top 10 for sales in the area with myself being number one.

Q: What career avenues do you hope to be able to pursue in the next: two years, five years & ten years?

A:

Two years: Store Manager; Five Years: Head Office/Retail Management; Ten Years: Head of Retail.

Q: What do you like most about your current role and why?

A:

I like the daily interaction with customers and the team. And because I'm based in an Oxford Street store, I'm always busy and facing new challenges.

Q: What did you/do you find hardest about your current role?

A:

There isn't anything actually. I really enjoy all aspects of it.

Q: How close do you think that the general public’s view of your employer is to the reality?

A:

I find that many customers don't realise the advancements that 3 has made as a company. When we launched, the company didn't have the infrastructure that it has now and its public image suffered because of this. It is unfortunate, but people still seem to judge the company against events that happened five years ago when that's really not the case anymore. We already have the biggest 3G network, and our coverage is getting better all the time.

Q: Would you recommend your employer to a friend and if so, why?

A:

Yes. This is shown by the fact I have already recommended two people who are now working at the White City store. 3 is the best thing that happened to me and I thought why not invite my friends to come and work in the same vibrant and friendly atmosphere that I am currently enjoying.
