Q: What made you choose to join your current employer?
At the time I was looking for a change of career and 3 really stood out as exciting, new and innovative. Much more so than other employers.
Q: What is the basic function/purpose of your current role?
I currently manage a team of six staff and my role is to manage results, but also to drive performance through in-store targets, coaching and developing my team.
Q: How relevant were your qualifications to you getting the job?
Past experience and previous training were the key factors, not really academic qualifications.
Q: Describe some of the key tasks involved in performing your current role and the frequency with which you have to perform them.
Reviewing results constantly (daily, weekly, monthly), both as a store and the individuals is an important part of my job. Audit compliance - again, daily, weekly, monthly. I rely on my team heavily and delegate as needed to help with stock control and POS as and when.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you arrive at work each day?
Put the kettle on and then set the day's briefing.
Q: How big is the team in which you work?
In comparison to other 3Stores, my team of six is medium-sized.
Q: Describe how your job interacts with the rest of your team.
We work collectively as a team and share best practice and good results. But mainly we try and have as much fun as possible whilst doing that.
Q: How would you describe the working culture of your current employer?
It is very relaxed, but very challenging at the same time.
Q: What career avenues do you hope to be able to pursue in the next: two years, five years & ten years?
A role in a more senior position, either as an area manager or working within a different department.
Q: What do you like most about your current role and why?
The different challenges that it brings and the achievement of hitting the store's targets.
Q: What did you/do you find hardest about your current role?
With 3 still being relatively new as a company, there can be a lot of change.
Q: How close do you think that the general public’s view of your employer is to the reality?
I would say fairly close, but you'd have to ask them!
Q: Would you recommend your employer to a friend and if so, why?
Yes, as it's somewhere you can develop your skills and will always get recognition for doing a great job. The pay structure is set so that if you perform well, you can earn significantly more than just the basic salary.
