Whitbread has joined forces with youth charity, The Prince's Trust, to pilot the 'Get into Hospitality' programme in the West Midlands - which is set to provide local disadvantaged young people the skills and confidence to find a job. Twelve unemployed young people aged between 16-25 years will be given the opportunity to join a free, two-week training programme, to learn all aspects of the hospitality sector. More than three in four young people supported by The Prince's Trust move into work, training or education.

Travelodge is to create over 160 new jobs in the run-up to Christmas, mainly with the opening of nine new sites. New hotels will be opened in Birmingham, Doncaster, High Wycombe, Huddersfield, Liverpool, London, Salford Quays, Portishead and Bolton. The recruitment drive includes receptionists, housekeepers, cleaners and bar staff. Michelle Luxford, Travelodge's HR director, said: "These 163 new jobs are not just for Christmas, we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals who want a long-term career in hospitality."
