ASA to investigate Virgin Media broadband ads
Virgin Media’s latest advertising campaign “truth, lies and broadband” has come under investigation by the Advertising Standards Authority. The ASA is currently looking into complaints from customers over the company’s latest adverts, which claim that Virgin’s service is delivered via a fibre optic cable, making it the “fastest and best performing broadband available”. Many complainants believe that this is incorrect and that actually a coaxial cable is used. Virgin Media is currently being stalked by private equity firms and has recently become embroiled in a damaging row with BSkyB over the rights to show its programmes.
